Email with attachments are not arriving at recipient

It has come to my attention that some email with attachments are not arriving at the intended recipients. After investigation, it appears the attachments are of a type that is blocked by our email system – due to vulnerabilities with malware.

If you are emailing a Word Document and the attachment is .docm, it will be blocked. Save the document as a .doc or .docx and it should pass through okay.

Instructions for converting the document:

1. Press "Ctrl-O" in Microsoft Word and double-click the DOCM file to open it.

2. Press "File" and then "Save As."

3. Click the "Save as Type" drop-down menu and select "Word Document” or “Word 97-2003 Document"

4. Click "Save" to save the file with same name, but with the DOC extension. Doing so keeps the original file and saves a DOC copy.

Then you can email that file.

Here is a list of other file formats that will be blocked:

.ani
.app
.exe
.jar
.reg
.scr
.vbe
.vbs
